ARCHTOP GUITARS

I make two models - small (SA) and large (LA).
Adjustable floating bridge with trapeze tailpiece. Tuners - three-on-a-strip or Gotoh Grover ‘Sta-Tite’ style - both based on 1930’s types.

Prices from £3150

SA model

This is based on the prewar Epiphone Zenith. From about 1935, both Epiphone and Gibson phased out their smaller 14” guitars and got bigger and bigger - 16” and 17”became the norm. My SA model, a bit wider than 14”, has segmented F holes - another feature that Epiphone phased out. The top is fully carved spruce, while the back is heavily domed but bent to shape not carved. Scale length 630 or 640 mm. Backs and sides - flamed maple or walnut. Optional pickguard.

Dimensions:
  • Upper bout 260 mm
  • Waist 210 mm
  • Lower bout 365 mm
  • Length 485 mm
  • Depth 85 mm

This is a 16’’ guitar. Apart from being bigger it's the same as the SA. Segmented or conventional F holes. Optional pickguard.

Dimensions:
  • Upper bout 295 mm
  • Waist 240 mm
  • Lower bout 405 mm
  • Length 510 mm
  • Depth 85 mm
